On Thursday, there will be a big demo march in Vienna in the afternoon. A train connection and coaches will bring you to the venue campsite afterwards. Please bring your tent and sleeping bags . There is enough space for all to put up their tent, and there is running water, electricity and toilets, but not much more infrastructure.

Entrance free! There is no participation fee.

Save the Date!

The Animal Rights 2008 National Conference will be held on on August 14-18 at the Hilton Mark Center in Alexandria, VA, a Washington, D C suburb. The hotel offers free shuttle service to the Metro and the Washington National Airport.

This is our most attractive venue since we started hosting the conferences in 1981. The building has lots of sunlight, and we have the entire conference level. It adjoins a small lake and a botanical preserve with running trails.

The 2008 program will offer a number of new features, including plenary presentations by prominent leaders of the consumer, environmental, and social justice movements, and presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich.

Early e-mail registration will open in January.

Let Live
letlive@foodfightgrocery.com

Animals belong to themselves, not to us. They should not suffer in our systems of food, science, entertainment and fashion. Instead, they should live free of the tyranny we put upon them. But they cannot claim this freedom alone. "Let Live" is a grassroots forum for people who want to help. Through an open, respectful, and friendly environment this conference will provide an opportunity for attendees to learn skills and strategies to become better advocates for the animals, no matter ones experience level in activism.

This conference is for first-timers, experienced activists, and anybody in between who hopes to make a real difference for animals and build a stronger, more effective community and animal liberation movement. This conference is for anybody who wants to live and let live.

"Let Live" is taking place in Portland, Oregon, June 27th-29th, 2008. It will be held this year on the campus of Portland State University. It is being organized by Vegans for Animal Advocacy, with support from No Compromise Magazine, Herbivore Magazine, and Food Fight Grocery. Much more info to come soon, please check the conference website ( http://www.letliveconference.org ) often and subscribe to the blog to stay up to date. Any questions, don't hesitate to get in touch. See you in June.

Thanks.

6 th Annual
International Conference for Critical Animal Studies

Program Theme:

Animal and Earth Advocacy: Links of Life

Sponsored by:
MSU-B Philosophy Faculty, Green Theory and Praxis, and Institute for Critical Animal Studies

Just out of the starting gates of the 21 st century, the world is experiencing tremendous changes. From devastating hurricanes and earthquakes to an increase in endangered species and ever-diminishing forests.  What are the problems, specifically, for nonhuman animals and the earth? What links tie environmental and nonhuman animal advocacy? How might we address global concerns through education, the arts, ethics, justice, culture, science, history, technology, policy, media, economics, and spirituality?

We invite proposals from all community members, including but not limited to nonprofit organizations, political leaders, activists, professors and students.  We are especially interested in topics reaching across the disciplines of environmental and animal advocacy. Paper presentations should be fifteen to twenty minutes in length.

Deadline for proposals and abstracts: January 1, 2008. Please send proposals and abstracts, each no more than 500 words. We are receptive to different and innovative formats, including, but not limited to roundtables, panels, community dialogues, theatre, and workshops. You may propose individual or group ‘panel' presentations, but please clearly specify the structure of your proposal.  Preference will be given to papers focusing on the program theme, linking environmental and nonhuman animal advocacy.

Accepted presenters will be notified by email by January 15, 2008. Please send proposals, abstracts, and biographies electronically to:
